AI21 Labs Comes out of Stealth and Launches First Deep-Tech Writing Assistant, Wordtune
AI Luminaries and Veterans of the Elite Technology Unit of Israel’s IDF Launch the First True Writing Assistant
TEL AVIV, Israel–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today, AI21 Labs has officially come out from stealth to launch its first product, Wordtune, the first AI-based writing companion that understands context and meaning. Unlike other writing assistants in the market today that correct grammar and spelling, Wordtune is the only product built with deep-AI that captures thoughts, and offers ways to translate them into quality text, so that the writing is authentic, clear and compelling.
“Wordtune ushers in a new writing paradigm, where humans and machines work iteratively together to distill thoughts and shape them into words,” said Yoav Shoham, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of AI21 Labs. “We want to provide a co-writer, not just a copyeditor, so that we’re using technology to reduce the gap between your thoughts and what you end up writing.”
AI21 Labs is focused on fundamentally changing how humans read and write, a process that has long been unchanged. While promising technology exists today to correct grammar and improve sentence structure, these solutions address only parts of the writing challenge and are difficult to master and tame. Wordtune leverages advanced AI tools and language models to understand the context and semantics of written text.
AI21 Labs was founded by some of the world’s leading minds in Artificial Intelligence. Shoham, a serial entrepreneur who previously sold two companies to Google, is a computer scientist and Stanford professor emeritus; Ori Goshen is a former member of the famed 8200 tech unit of the IDF and a repeat entrepreneur; and Amnon Shashua, Professor at the Hebrew University, is the founder and CEO of Mobileye, which went public on NASDAQ in 2014 and was subsequently acquired by Intel. Additional leading AI professors from around the world also serve AI21 Labs in various capacities.
“We have an unparalleled group of AI talent,” said Amnon Shashua, Co-Founder and Chairman of AI21 Labs. “Our deep scientific knowledge and previous industry experience has allowed us to craft this innovative tool, build new markets, and foster a dynamic company that will make a lasting impact on the AI industry.”
Wordtune offers users more than one way to get the words just right. Users highlight text and Wordtune offers suggestions for editing. Users simply select the tune that meets their intention, and then choose to either completely rewrite sentences, make them more casual, more formal, shorter, or longer. Far beyond grammar and spelling fixes, Wordtune is a writing companion powered by AI technology breakthroughs.
